Samsung Electronics and AMD today announced a multi-year extension of their agreement to further integrate high-performance, ultra-low-power AMD Radeon graphics solutions into Samsung’s Exynos System on Chips (SoCs).
The collaboration aims to bring console-level graphics quality and optimized power consumption to more mobile devices, enhancing the gaming experience on these platforms.
The partnership between Samsung and AMD, which began with the licensing of AMD’s RDNA graphics architecture in 2019, has already resulted in significant innovation.
In 2022, the companies jointly developed the Samsung Xclipse, the industry’s first mobile graphics processing unit (GPU) based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture.
In addition, Xclipse introduced hardware-accelerated ray tracing and variable rate shading capabilities, enabling console-like gameplay on mobile devices.
Seogjun Lee, executive vice president of Application Processor Development at Samsung Electronics, said the companies are committed to revolutionizing mobile graphics.
The expanded collaboration will leverage their expertise in developing ultra-low power solutions to drive innovation in mobile graphics.
David Wang, senior vice president of the Radeon Technologies Group at AMD, said the continued partnership reflects their shared commitment to delivering the best possible experience for mobile users.
