Samsung Electronics (KRX: 005930) and the KAIST have joined forces to promote talent in robotics.

On Feb. 13, both parties signed an agreement to establish the “Samsung Electronics Robotics Talent Development Program” at KAIST’s headquarters in Daejeon.

The signing ceremony was attended by the chief technology officer of Samsung Electronics’ DX division and the vice president of KAIST.

The new program aims to train experts in robotics proactively and will offer a part-time master’s degree program starting in the 2023 academic year.

Samsung Electronics and KAIST will select ten scholars yearly to receive a curriculum combining theoretical and practical robotics knowledge.

The students will receive industry scholarships for their studies, including tuition and fee subsidies, and will be employed by Samsung Electronics upon completion.

They also receive hands-on training at Samsung Electronics and the opportunity to attend robotics conferences and exhibitions abroad.

With the changing structure of society, the use of robots is expected to increase.

The future robotics industry will require a combination of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and manufacturing capabilities.

Samsung Electronics is committed to improving its technology in robotics as a new opportunity and securing core technologies by promoting human resources specialized in robotics.

In addition to the robotics talent development program, Samsung Electronics continues cultivating tailored talent in critical areas such as AI, next-generation communications, and semiconductors through contract majors, joint majors, and training paths.
